'Simply Energy EP' is my ode to Meditation and Universal Love. I first discovered and immersed myself in the practice of meditation at quite a young age, after a particularly destructive break-up in my mid-teens. I was lucky enough to have had a profound experience fairly quickly into the process, often referred to as an 'awakening' or 'enlightenment' which completely changed my life and outlook on things, in an incredibly positive way.

It seems to me that it is often the most simple ideas and concepts that are hardest for us to understand. For example, from a young age, I have always been fascinated by the concept that (in its most basic of forms) everything is made of the same energy, and from our current understanding, it seems that this energy can neither be created or destroyed. This is a concept that is hard for most human beings to comprehend, but a concept that can seemingly, very easily be understood by people when they reach an enlightened/awakened state through practices such as meditation and yoga.

I believe that through experiencing these higher states of consciousness through such practices, we can all gain insights into the nature of reality and what is important in life and also start to understand the full potential of the human mind and our species as a whole.

The opening track on the EP, 'About Time', was largely inspired by the notion that we (as human beings) aren't living anywhere near the full potential of where we could be as a species. The fact that extreme poverty is still a major global issue is simply unacceptable with all the knowledge, technology and resources currently available in this world. It is through the work of people like Peter Joseph, with the Zeitgeist documentary series, and Jacque Fresco's 'The Venus Project' that my eyes have been opened to the fact that we have more than enough resources in the world to not only eradicate world hunger and extreme poverty, but for all people to live in abundance and the key thing stopping us from solving many of the world's problems is the fact that our entire existence is currently based upon capitalism and the monetary system.

Capitalist and monetary systems have been useful in the past, in terms of advancement and creating healthy competition in fields such as healthcare, design and technology but we are now at a stage where we have advanced to a level where these systems are simply no longer needed and no longer a positive thing for human beings and the natural world. I believe that in order to improve the current state of things, and to ensure the survival of our species, we must now accept that the current systems in place are no longer benefitting the majority of the world's population.

It is only once we replace the monetary system with something more sustainable such as a resource-based economy (as outlined in Jacque Fresco's 'The Venus Project') that we will be able to begin solving the majority of the key issues that we are currently facing as a species, and slowly change from a dog-eat-dog world where large numbers of people are needlessly suffering (due to extreme poverty), to a world where we fully utilize the resources, knowledge and technology available to us, to create abundance for all of the world's people.

My aim with this EP is to inspire people to discover meditation and all of it's benefits for themselves, in their own time, and also to open people's minds to the fact that it is not only possible to change the current state of the world, but that it could happen very quickly, if we all choose to peacefully unite and re-address the systems that are currently in place. What's sad is that there's so much great information on the internet, but also so much rubbish, that its hard for kids growing up in this digital age to know what is credible information or not, and also where to start in terms of independant research on important topics. What's also sad is that most people have accepted the way that things currently are as 'just the way it is'. I personally feel that celebrities need to start using their fame and the large amount of people that they're able to reach and influence, to start spreading awareness of new ways of thinking.

People are getting fed up with the suffering, corruption, war, injustice and inequality witnessed on a daily basis. I hope that the 'Simply Energy' EP opens people's eyes to the fact that there are alternatives available to us, and that we must unite to peacefully demand that the monetary system is eradicated or at least drastically changed so that starvation and extreme poverty become a thing of the past, something that will one day be read about in school history lessons, where pupils will wonder why we allowed so much unnecessary suffering to continue before realizing that the system was flawed and a new approach was needed.
